Skanska has enhanced the mental health support it offers UK employees.

The construction business has partnered with Maximus to provide the Access to Work Mental Health Service, enabling it to help its workforce while also raising awareness of wellbeing in the sector.

The enhanced provision includes a suite of free mental health tools for employees, such as action plans for wellness recovery and expert advice on adjustments for the workplace.

Megan Taylor, head of occupational health and wellbeing at Skanska UK, said: “Employees can feel overwhelmed when coping with poor mental health, and we feel that more can be done to support them. Through our partnership with Maximus, Skanska will lead the way in provision of workforce mental health support within the construction sector. Good work is good for health, and the support offered by Maximus can only benefit those that need it.”

Skanska – which carries out project delivery work in the property, education, defence and highways sectors – has been working on increasing understanding and awareness of mental health among its workforce since 2016.

As part of the new service, employees will be offered access to training, workshops and webinars at the company’s UK sites. These will cover topics such as burnout prevention, post-traumatic stress disorder, awareness, suicide awareness and the connection between mental and physical health.
