Just Eat UK has committed to replacing its corporate sales fleet with electric cars by 2025 as part of its pledge to reduce its annual carbon emissions by 480 tonnes.

The food delivery app, which currently has 175 diesel vehicles offered as employee benefit to those in field-based roles, will initially switch its car scheme to include fully electric CUPRA Born and Volkswagen ID.3 branded with its logo. It has already introduced 12 of them within the business.

The move is part of Just Eat Takeaway.com’s wider commitment to making its entire corporate and sales car fleet fully electric by 2030, in line with its net-zero target for direct operations. Launching its Responsible Business Framework in 2021, the company identified four key areas in which it wanted to take positive steps to drive sustainability in the sector: planet, food, people and society.

Just Eat UK, which partners with around 68,000 restaurants and groceries nationally, highlighted the importance of the new vehicles offering “a wide range of capabilities that can satisfy the varying demands of each area sales team”.  Its sales staff currently use the cars to provide ongoing support for existing partners and to visit prospective ones across the UK.

According to the company, the initiative demonstrates its determination to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by removing its fossil fuel vehicles in its UK sales fleet.

Leigh Phillipson, Just Eat UK sales director, said: “Our sales team is committed to providing services to restaurant partners up and down the UK and by replacing all our vehicles with electric vehicles, we are further reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting our environment for future generations.”
