Majority of employers are focusing on people-centric culture in 2023

The majority (83%) of organisations want to build a more people-centric culture, and 82% of executives agreed that people strategy was key to success, according to research by professional networking site LinkedIn.

The 2023 Workplace Learning Report found that 93% of organisations were concerned about employee retention in 2023.

In the list of priorities for organisations looking to prioritise employees in 2023, diversity and inclusion policies were second, while employee wellbeing was fourth, and hybrid or flexible working was close to the bottom, in ninth place, below compliance.

More than a fifth (22%) of respondents said that they would look for support with work-life balance when considering changing employers, with this rising to 26% among those aged between 35 and 49.

Linda Jingfang Cai, global head of learning and talent development at LinkedIn, said: “Forward-thinking organisations need to create environments that embrace and unlock the potential of the whole employee.

Josh Bersin, HR analyst and founder and president of Bersin & Associates, added: “Your ability to hire, retain, train, and redeploy people is not going to be easy going forward. That’s why HR is so important.”

According to Christopher Lind, vice president and chief learning officer at ChenMed, the business’ methods for improving employee engagement and is to focus on onboarding as part of the holistic experience. In addition, ChenMed has consolidated fragmented employee communications onto one platform. 

Lind said: “We’ve already seen significant improvement in how new hires feel during their first few months at the company.”

Soon Mee Kim, chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer at Omnicom, said: “When you create a diverse, inclusive culture, employees contribute their best thinking, become great managers to others, and open the doors to innovations.”
